Forget "champagne wishes and caviar dreams." I prefer "makeup wishes and Soft Lip Creams." 🙂

In my wildest beauty nerd dreams, I'd visit each of the eleven cities featured in the new NYX Soft Lip Creams line ($half dozen each) just to be able to article of clothing each color in the metropolis it belongs. First London, then Amsterdam, Antwerp, Stockholm, Monte Carlo and Milan. From there it'south across the Adriatic to Istanbul, down to Abu Dhabi, farther downwardly to Addis Ababa, way, way e to Tokyo, and then all the mode across the Pacific to end in Sao Paolo, Brazil.

Of course, to complete the fantasy, I'd fly business concern class, and Ben McKenzie would back-trail me on the journeying (lamentable, El Hub!). On planes, in trains and automobiles, we'd talk for hours about The Hunger Games, and then, somewhere over the Mediterranean, he'd reveal his surreptitious fetish for crazy cat ladies.

Simply seriously, here's what really happened…

Today I wore Addis Ababa (a matte hot pinkish), Antwerp (a matte coral), Milan (a matte peach) and Amsterdam (a matte red) — not at the same time, of class — as I tooled around the sleepy Northern California town of Novato, dodging cookie-pushing Girl Scouts (OMG! Thin MINTS!), and walking a stubby cat named Tabs.

Okay, so that wasn't terribly exciting, merely these Soft Matte Lip Creams are. 🙂 NYX, a budget-minded, cruelty-free brand, simply released the new line of creamy, long-wearing matte lipsticks for spring.

They look like glosses with their tubes and doe-foot applicators, don't they? What's inside, however, is something entirely different. They feel almost like whipped cream on the lips and spread but as easily, too. And I love their featherweight, non-sticky texture; it's a nice difference from the thick and heavy matte lipsticks I've worn in the past.

NYX seems to like lippies with bold scents, and these Soft Lip Creams definitely autumn into the "Wow, this stuff is Potent!" category. Every time I open a tube, the vanilla buttercream frosting scent hits me like a ton of bricks. It'southward something I imagine will either totally float your boat, or totally gross yous out. I happen to like that it doesn't smell synthetic (my pet peeve), just you might want to give these a cautionary sniff before taking the plunge.

Every bit for pigmentation, IT'Southward OFF THE HOOK! NYX packed plenty of rich, vibrant color into these tubes. One layer delivers wonderfully opaque coverage that, incidentally, as well looks pretty dandy in pictures.

I worry a bit when it comes to new mattes because many tend to dehydrate my lips, just these Lip Creams appear to hold their ground in the hydration department. They're a teeny, tiny bit drying, but not and so much to turn me off. A minor amount of lip balm layered beneath them should help.

NYX bills these as long-wearing lip products, and I become almost v hours total, which isn't bad at all. There is a catch, however: the colors get abroad mad, which is to say that my lips expect smashing for the commencement two-3 hours of wear earlier color begins to vanish at the edges. Past the fifth 60 minutes, what remains doesn't wait nearly as nice. It's an unattractive, thick ring of colour left in the inner office of my lips.

They're higher maintenance than I thought they'd be, but that simply means more touch on-ups throughout the 24-hour interval. At $6, the toll is right. If/when NYX finds a way to go the Soft Creams to fade a chip more evenly (something the new matte L'Oreal Lipsticks do uncommonly well) throughout the 24-hour interval, we might exist looking at the next breakout drugstore makeup star.

Let the record state…

I can't await to see Have Me Home Tonight. It'due south a new '80s coming of age flick starring Topher Grace, merely judging by this trailer, it may non be the most historically pilus accurate film (can a picture similar this still be called a moving-picture show?). The coifs are nowhere near as high or as "screw permed" as I recollect them being!

Oops! Now you're probably going to have Eddie Money stuck in your head for the residual of the 24-hour interval. 🙂
